Planner

Department: Operations
Reports to: Director of Global Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

The planner is responsible for monitoring forecast plan to actual sales trends and scheduling internal and external resources to meet requirements.  This role provides support internally to operations as well as externally to contract manufacturing suppliers and customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Plan and prepare long term production requirements based on forecast
  • Assess current inventory levels with customer requirements, and probable future sales to maintain balance between fulfillment and replenishment needs
  • Analyze production requirements with capacity data and determine necessary resource requirements
  • Plan and prioritize workflow internally and externally to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
  • Correspond with contract manufacture suppliers and customers
  • Expedite operations and materials that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption
  • Monitor jobs to ensure they finish on time
  • Collaborate with quality, inventory, and purchasing to be collectively accountable to meet production schedules
  • Prepare production reports and other data as required
  • Create and implement Lean planning strategies that meet business requirements by improving quality and delivery

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requirement is a minimum 5 years materials/production planning experience in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Candidate must have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively internally and externally
  • High adaptability, ability to re-prioritize work based on changing needs
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
  • Good at math and statistics
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Macola and or SAP a plus
  • Experience in Lean Tools a plus
