APYX MEDICAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF FOUR MEMBERS TO ITS MEDICAL ADVISORY BOARD

CLEARWATER, FL — July 15, 2019 – Apyx Medical Corporation, formerly Bovie Medical Corporation,(NASDAQ:APYX) (the “Company”), a maker of medical devices and supplies and the developer of Helium Plasma Technology, which is marketed and sold as Renuvion® in the cosmetic surgery market and J-Plasma® in the hospital surgical market, today announced the appointment of four members to its Medical Advisory Board.

Brian M. Kinney, M.D.:

Dr. Brian M. Kinney is a Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, and a board certified plastic surgeon. He is a co-founder and a Board Member of the International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgery. Dr. Kinney is also an Editor of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (the “Blue Journal”) and the Archives of Plastic Surgery (Korea). His is a past President of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, Board Member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and Deputy Secretary General of the International Confederation of Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Kinney earned his bachelor’s degree (Biomedical/Mechanical Engineering) and master’s degree (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering) after completing the Harvard/MIT Health Sciences and Technology program. He attended medical school at Tulane University and trained in general surgery and plastic surgery at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA.

Paul G. Ruff IV, M.D., FACS:

Dr. Paul G. Ruff IV is a double board certified private practice plastic surgeon with over twenty years of experience. Dr. Ruff trains and lectures nationally and internationally and has written numerous book chapters. Energy, and the application of energy for rejuvenation, is a particular and ever-evolving interest of his. He is affiliated with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. Dr. Ruff earned his medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He performed his general surgery residency and surgical critical care residency and was the chief administrative resident at Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Ruff completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center.

Richard D. Gentile, M.D., M.B.A.:

Dr. Richard D. Gentile is a distinguished Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, teacher and author who is respected internationally for his innovation, artistry and technical skills in the profession. Dr. Gentile founded the Facial Plastic and Aesthetic Laser Center in 1987 and serves northern Ohio in his specialized centers in Fairlawn and Boardman, Ohio. Prior to entering full time private practice, he served as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Northeast Ohio Medical University and has served on the medical faculty of Case Western Reserve College of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio and the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Gentile is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has served as an executive officer (Treasurer) for the Academy and its research foundation, located in Alexandria, Virginia. Dr. Gentile has also served as a national spokesman for the Academy, and participates in most of its educational forums, having served as a Program Chairman for the Academy’s 2004 Spring Meeting held in Phoenix, Arizona. He also serves as an editorial reviewer for both the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, published by the American Medical Association, as well as the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Gentile is a graduate of the Ohio State University.

Edward M. Zimmerman, M.D.:

Dr. Edward M. Zimmerman is the President of, and an Examiner for, the American Board of Laser Surgery, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Zimmerman is also a member of the California Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American College of Physicians. He was voted Silver State “Best Cosmetic Surgeon” in 2013 and 2014. Dr. Zimmerman directs Aesthetic Revolution Las Vegas, a Nationally Accredited, State licensed surgical facility dedicated to the refinement and delivery of safe surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures. The facility has been awarded “Excellence in Customer Care” by CMUS Talk of the Town in 2010 through 2019. Dr. Zimmerman holds degrees from Johns Hopkins, Georgetown and George Washington University School of Medicine.
